Delta Deluge, on film

This mansion was built on top of the Indian mound back in the mid 1800s. The Church is just a few hundred yards from the mansion.

Water is integral to the Mississippi delta. From the rain or from the river. It’s part of the timeless water cycle. Long after these buildings are gone, the rains will continue to come.

These photos were done using a Leica camera and Tri-x film. A classic combination!

I imagine the land has been used like this for over a hundred fifty years.

    1. Thanks Bing! I love it when it’s hard to tell when it was taken. I think it’s cool on these because they are so old. It’s interesting the church is in decay and the (secular?) home is not.

  1. As you know, I’ve been here many times and each time I make the decision to go back I always wonder what I will find when I get there. The old church is probably not long for this world and the fact that something that was built some 135 years ago can be mostly neglected and still remain standing is amazing. As I said in the post on my blog – I’ve been here in sun and cloudy/partly cloudy but never when it was raining sideways. It is amazing place.
