Versailles with a Holga

Day 22 of 30 day challenge

I had the opportunity last year to visit Paris and Amsterdam for about 10 days. It was amazing. I had such a good time going to the museums. Versailles was the hardest part of the trip in that the government had shut down part of the subway due to Yellow Vest protestor worries. We got to Versailles two hours later than we had planned and ended up in line for over an hour. Anyways… it was amazing. I think I enjoyed the Gardens and outdoors more than the palaces. Enjoy the Holga goodness! I have mixed feelings about the whole place. The people had it miserable and the “nobility” lived in luxury. Well other than the fact there were no indoor restrooms in the palace. Google it…

  1. Thank you for the opportunity to relive some fond memories.
I lived near Versailles in a little place called Villepreuve where the revolutionaries used to hang out. I loved the gardens and even the town of Versailles and would go back in a flash.

    1. Yay! I’m glad you liked them and they sparked memories. I’m so fascinated by European cities with 1000 year old castles, churches and other buildings still in service. Here in the US we’re excited by something from 1780s and those buildings were alreasy 700 years old when the US buildings were built! lol

  2. These are terrific Dave!! Netflix has shows on European gardens, and this is one of them. So incomprehensible how much money was spent building gardens in what was basically a “pissing contest”. All while, as you said, the people were starving. I can appreciate the architectural achievements and amassed artworks. But it is hard to respect the ostentatious lack of character and morals. The gardens are fascinating visual delights though 🙂
