Today was shoot old film cameras day. Next on the hit parade was a Kodak Duoflex. This camera is a Twin Lens Reflex camera. It only has one shutter speed. It has 3 apertures and you set the range similarly to the Tourist camera in the last post. It’s interesting for both of these that you have to kind of guess what exactly will be in the frame.I went out to the Dover Air Force Base Air Mobility Command Museum and shot this roll of film.Got some cool stuff!
A colleague at work gave me a Kodak Tourist Camera from the late 40s. It is all manual, and a lot slower to use than a modern camera. You have to set the shutter speed, the aperture and the distance the subject is from the camera. Then you cock the shutter, look through a view finder that is a close approximation of what will be on the negative. The negative is 6×9 cm. It’s huge! I wasn’t sure if the camera would function, especially if the bellows on it was still light tight. No worries!
JC, Tobie and I were in Alexandria and DC and driving around when we found the old Ice House. Some neighbors told us it used to be along a railroad line that is now gone, and the building was coming down soon to put up a Gelatto store. They seemed proud of the building and not happy about the upcoming change. Anyways, these may be some of the last photos taken there!
