Fall shots

These are some spiders ballooning their way around my house today while I was doing some stuff outside. Apparently they will climb up as high as possible, then let these streamers of silk fly, wait for the wind to catch hold, then go for a ride! They were good size spiders too, about 2-3 mm. Bigger than you’d think could fly this way. There must have been hundreds of them in the air, up to 100 feet or higher. I really couldn’t tell from the ground, but they were up there, with the sun highlighting the silk. Cool stuff! Mary wasn’t as appreciative though.

In Brecknock park, there was some light streaming through the trees. I wouldn’t ordinarily like the plant in this first pic!

Two colors on the same branch!

Bugs flying around in the woods. This has to be the last group of the summer!

Last Jacksonville Shots

We were hanging out in Downtown Jacksonville, and I came across the statue of Andrew Jackson. Linda took the pic. Some guy walking by offered to take the photo, but I told him it wasn’t necessary, she was my sister. Several people around us got a chuckle out of it.

Smart cars are coming to the US from Europe next year. They were doing free test drives downtown, so I went for one. I had read an article in Car and Driver (probably) about them and the author liked em. I thought that it was fun to drive, especially in the city. From the inside, I had as much room for me as I do in my Mercury. Not sure about logging long hours in them though. They are going to run around $17K. For that much, I’d probably want a 4 door Hyundai with a trunk or something.

Cool colors and reflections in the Modis building.

I’m so channeling Cliff Claven here

This like post #32 of my trip to Florida last week. We went into downtown Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Landing to hang out for a bit before we left on Sunday. Rick had been asking me where my yacht was every time we were near water, which was quite often. When we got downtown, there was this big ole yacht, the Gallant Lady @either 168 or 172 feet. I explained that the captain had been delayed trying to find thongs that were not too big for the all girl crew and had just pulled into town. I also told Rick there was no point in boarding the yacht since we had to leave so soon. Here is the front of the boat,

and here is the back!

See, I was telling the truth the whole time! That captain has a lot to answer for!

It's Emotional. It's Personal
